Hey Guys! My name is Ashley and I am the sole owner & operator of Curated Society by Ashley LLC. I decided to add a blog space for my site to post updates on where I am and what I'm doing. I want to get to know you too!
I'm a 36 year old wife and mother from Cleveland, Ohio. In my early to mid 30s my body decided 'hey we're middle aged now, we're going to change things up a bit'. My metabolism began to slow, I started gaining weight in places I didn't know was possible, and it's been a big change in my life. It has been a huge learning curve trying to find how to dress for my age and my new body type. I tried many different styles but I always felt I was either trying too hard to look young, or I was dressing way too old and I didn't feel ready to be so conservative just yet.
After these past few years, I finally feel like I found what looks good on me, but also have gotten an eye for what looks good on others. I work in the salon industry, so I look at women all day and watch how they dress, what their overall style is, and how they represent themselves to the outside world. That made me reflect on myself.
After years of trying to figure out who I am as a newly middle aged woman, I am now almost 37 and I found myself. I found who I am as a person, what my beliefs are, and how I want to present myself to the outside world.
So, I have rebuilt my closet and I can absolutely define my style as comfy (always), elevated basics, chic in a quiet luxury sort of way, and a bit edgy. I very very rarely wear bright colors. Most of my closet consists of black, white, beige, and olive pieces. I do not like to spend an arm and a leg on clothing so affordability is an absolute must for me. I'm not huge on designer labels which in my opinion look tacky, but I do love a nice handbag from time to time.
I've had it up to HERE trying to find clothing that is just for me and my age group. It feels like every store I go to is either geared towards girls 16-20s, or women who are in their cute, sweet little Grandma phase of life. I am neither. So, I'm becoming that in-between.
I am telling you all of these things, because this journey has made me want to open my own business to help other women who feel similarly to myself. I'm not a girl, not yet a woman (in my mind).
Dressing and looking like you want to is so important. It makes you feel confident, happy, and ready to take on the day. The way you look shifts your whole energy, the way you interact with others, and it's just a little boost that reminds you of your own self worth. This is my goal with starting Curated Society by Ashley. I want to help others feel good and look good, because it can change your life.
